HOW DO I KNOW I AM SAVED?

cLASSIC jESUSQuestion: How do you know that Christ has come into your life after you have asked him in? I don't really "feel" any different and especially wonder why God isn't immediately answering the prayers that I've been praying. Answer: We know that Christ has come into our lives because we trust in the fact that he will keep his promise. He promised us in John 3:16 that all who come to Christ will have eternal life! Jesus proved his power to keep his promises when he was resurrected on the third day. As I read your question I wondered if there was some "deal" that you made with God as you asked Christ into your life?

Was there something that you needed God to do and when God didn't do it immediately it made you unsure about believing in him anymore? Sometimes, instead of trusting Christ we are trying to get Christ to do something that we want done. Obviously that kind of faith is not sincere faith and it doesn't really change our lives. You also said that you didn’t "feel" any different. Let me give you some encouragement about this.

I know many people who ask Christ into their lives and don't feel different immediately. For them the fact that God is real is a matter of faith and trust. I know many who expect to feel a certain way when they ask Christ into their life and when they do not they wonder if he really is there. The Bible doesn't tell us how we should expect to feel, or that everyone will feel the same. It does tell us that we are saved from our sins. It does tell us that we will be with him for eternity. It does tell us that the Holy Spirit comes to live in our life to direct us.

It does tell us that we have a new spiritual sensitivity about life that we've never had before. If you've made a genuine commitment to Christ, these things are true about you whether you feel that they are true or not. When the "feelings" are not there as you would like, I encourage you to hear God saying, "I want you to follow your faith and not just your feelings."
